Chiropractic is clearly an effective and safe, drug-free approach to better health.
When we are feeling ill our mind body says “ I can’t” and our happiness, vitality, enjoyment of life, work,  play and relationships will all suffer.

When we are healthy, we attract new opportunities and possibilities.
We have energy to play, work, and to give or share with others.
Illness costs our lives in so many ways. Healing with Chiropractic plays in many ways by optimizing your health and quality of life.

“ I am a true believer that Chiropractic is a healthcare discipline, which emphasizes the inherent recuperative power of the body without the use of drugs or surgery. Chiropractic is a way of living, with the understanding that true health comes from within”.

“ I completed my Bachelor of Science in Medical Technology and Sports Medicine from NIU in 1993, and went on to earn my Doctorate from Palmer West College of Chiropractic.  I am a Certified Fitness Instructor  through ISSA and have trained and competed for over 15 years.  My training includes extensive work in Sacro Occipital Technique, Clinical Nutrition, Sport Rehabilitation, and in Applied Kinesiology.

Chiropractic
Chiropractic is a health care practice which is significant in restoring recuperative power of the body to heal itself without the use of drugs or surgery.  The practice of chiropractic focuses on the relationship between structure (primarily the spine) and function (as coordinated by the nervous system) and how that relationship affects the preservation and restoration of health.  Chiropractic Physicians are the only ones that are specifically trained to restore balance.

TMJ
TMJ stands for temporomandibulare (jaw) joint. TMJ disorders is a term, which combines those with true pathology of the temporomandibular joint and those with involvement of the muscles of mastication (myofascial pain dysfunction). Much of the difficulty encountered with the treatment of these patients is attributed to the physicians inability to accurately diagnose the disorder correctly.  The right and left temporomandibular Joints, situated in front of your ears, connect your lower jaw ( the mandible) to the skull. TMJ diseases and disorders are characterized by pain and dysfunction in the joints and surrounding muscles creating problems in speaking, eating, chewing, swallowing and making other jaw movements.  Sometimes the pain causes headaches and can extend to the ears, neck and shoulders. Some people hear joint sounds when the jaw is In motion and many are unable to open their mouth wide. The temporomandibular joints are among the most complex joints in the body and can malfunction for a variety of reasons, including injury and arthritis. But sometimes TMJ symptoms occur for no obvious reason.

  Postural Dysfunction
Postural pain, aches and other dysfunctions can be dramatically helped by a program of treatment and self-exercise.  There are various approaches to “re-posturing”, ranging from clinician  taught exercises to structural integration approach such as neuromuscular re-education or soft tissue release.  Many techniques integrating nerve and muscle communication are utilized.  Treatment is applied to the whole body, and often not to the areas where the patient feels the problem is!

Craniosacral
Craniosacral Therapy (CST) is a gentle, hands-on method of evaluating and enhancing the function of a physiological body system called the Craniosacral system.  The Craniosacral system maintains the environment in which the nervous system functions.  It  plays a major role in the development and performance of the brain and spinal cord. The system is comprised of the membranes and  cerebrospinal fluid that surround and protect the brain and spinal cord.  The system extends from the bones of the skull, face and mouth (that make up the cranium) all the way down to the tailbone area (sacrum).  Dysfunction or imbalance in the system can lead to sensory, motor and / or neurological disabilities.

Applied Kinesiology
Applied Kinesiology (AK) is a system for evaluating body functions.  AK utilizes manual muscle testing, clinical expertise, and lab tests, to diagnose functional problems, which can then be treated with Chiropractic, Acupressure, Nutrition, Deep-Tissue and Neural Stimulation, and Craniosacral Therapy.

Sport Injuries

Many musculoskeletal complaints arise from injuries sustained in sports.  Each year we see athletic performance draw closer to the limits fo human potential.  Understanding the biomechanical principles involved helps us to prevent injury and restore functional integrity and stability through rehabilitation. While our lever-like extremities transmit forces and motion at a distance, they also favor musculoskeletal injuries by amplifying forces acting on the body’s neuromusculoskeletal  system.

Nutrition

Nutrition is the science of food and other substances, as well as the action, interaction and balance to different nutrients in the body.  Your body’s essential nutrients include: carbohydrates, fats, proteins, vitamins, minerals and water.  Nutritional balance within the body’s functions will lead to homeostasis which may prevent illnesses such as, diabetes, gingivitis, liver cirrhosis, cardiovascular disease and some cancers.  Healing begins with communication. If your cells can not communicate clearly how can your immune system protect you?  It can’t!
